What it looks like
About 8 cm long, grey-brown, large ears, a pointed nose and a thin tail as long as the body.
The signs
Droppings like grains of rice, 3 to 6 mm, scattered; a stale smell; nibbled packets; scratching in the walls or the loft at night.
The risk
Contaminates food and surfaces with droppings and urine; one pair becomes dozens in a few months.
What we do
Bait stations or boxed traps where children and pets cannot reach, the gaps under the sink and behind the boiler found and filled.

Questions about the identifier

Text a photograph to 07700 900 670, with something for scale if you can, and a technician will tell you, usually within the hour in the day. Droppings photographed next to a coin are the most useful picture you can send.

Can I treat it myself?

Ants, often, with a gel bait from a hardware shop; a few mice, sometimes, with snap traps. Rats, wasps, bed bugs and cockroaches, rarely: the shop products kill the ones you see and leave the nest. We will tell you honestly on the phone if a DIY fix will do.

Why is the bee free?

Because Nia keeps bees, a swarm is a colony she is glad to have, and killing honey bees is something we will not do. It costs us an evening and some petrol.

Does the price ever change?

Not for the jobs on this page. A wasp nest needing a tower, a block of flats with cockroaches in the risers, or a gull roof needing a platform is quoted, and we say so before we come.
