Biting insects
Bed bug
Medium risk- What it looks like
- Flat, oval, reddish-brown, about 5 mm, like an apple pip; swells and darkens after feeding; the young are pale and tiny.
- The signs
- Itchy bites in a line or a cluster in the morning; tiny dark spots on the mattress seams and the bed frame; shed skins; a sweet musty smell.
- The risk
- Bites, sleeplessness and spread from room to room; no disease, but they never go away on their own.
- What we do
- Steam on the mattress and frame, a residual spray in the cracks and voids, a second treatment three weeks later, a preparation sheet that works.
