24-hour line, answered by a technician 029 2018 0670 Call-out £130 now · Night rate until 8am

The team

Five technicians, one phone.

Marc, Nia and three more, all employed, all holding the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management, taking turns on the 24-hour line. The technician who answers at night is the one who comes, and the one who does the survey does the follow-ups.

The people

Marc Pugh, a Welsh man in his late forties with close-cropped greying hair and a short goatee, in a black polo shirt with yellow trim, arms folded beside a black van

Marc Pugh

Owner and senior technician. The rodent work, the commercial contracts and the night line

Twelve years with Cardiff council's pest control service before it was cut back, then set up on Newport Road in 2013 with one van and the contracts of three takeaways who did not want to lose him. Marc holds the RSPH Level 2 and the BPCA advanced technician certificate, does most of the rodent work and every commercial survey, and carries the night phone three nights a week. He wrote the identifier on this website from the questions people ask on the phone at two in the morning.

Nia Rahman, a woman in her early thirties with dark curly hair tied back, in a black polo shirt with yellow trim, holding a black bait station by a garden wall

Nia Rahman

Technician and beekeeper. The bed bugs, the insects and every bee call

Came to pest control from a zoology degree at Cardiff and a summer on the bee farm her uncle runs near Peterston-super-Ely, and joined in 2018. Nia does the bed bug work, the cockroaches and the fleas, takes every call that might be bees, and keeps eleven hives of her own, which is where most of the swarms we collect end up. She is the reason the website says bees are relocated, not killed, and she will tell you off for the can of spray.

The technicians

Three more, and how they work.

Qualified before they go out

Every technician holds the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management and the rodenticide stewardship certificate before working alone, and spends three months on Marc\'s van first. Ieuan and Kayleigh have the BPCA advanced certificate too.

Safe by habit

Tamper-resistant stations fixed down, gel before spray, the least product that works, and the safety data sheet left on the table. Every product is logged against the job, which is what the stewardship scheme and your food inspector both ask for.

The night rota

Five of us share the 24-hour phone, one night each in turn, so the person who answers at two in the morning is awake, local and in a van with everything on it. Marc takes three nights; he says it is the bit he likes.

The same faces

The technician who does your survey does your follow-ups, and on a commercial contract the same one comes every visit for a year. If that is impossible we tell you who is coming and why.

A black van with a yellow side stripe outside the Newport Road office, the side door open to racked equipment

The vans

Five vans, the same kit in each.

Bait stations and traps, gel baits, the steam unit for bed bugs, a dusting lance on a telescopic pole for wasps, a ladder, a bee suit, a drain cover key, steel wool and mesh for proofing, and a tablet for the report. Black with a yellow stripe, because you should be able to see us coming; an unmarked one for the jobs where you would rather the neighbours did not.

The office and where we go

Seen something? Ring. Anything else, book a slot.

The 24-hour line is answered by a technician, and the call-out is a fixed price before anyone leaves. For anything that can wait for the morning, the booking form takes two minutes and we reply within the hour in working hours with a two-hour slot. Not sure what it is? The identifier will tell you, and what it costs.
