Rats £165, mice £140: three visits, bait stations, the way in found and the report
Rats and mice
Scratching in the loft, droppings behind the cooker, a rat on the patio at dusk: three visits over three weeks with tamper-resistant bait stations, the way in found and photographed, proofing advice or the proofing done, and a 28-day return free. The commonest call we get, and the one we are best at.

Roath, Splott, Adamsdown and Tremorfa are Victorian terraces with shared walls, old drains and back lanes, and rodents use all three. Mice in a terrace are usually coming through from next door along the under-floor void; rats are nearly always coming up from a broken drain or a lane bin. The first visit finds which: we check the kitchen, the under-stairs, the loft and the outside, lift the drain cover with your permission, and put down bait stations where children and pets cannot reach the bait.
The second visit, a week later, shows how much has been taken and where, which tells us how many there are and how they move; the third, a week after that, should show nothing taken, and then we collect the stations. If bait is still going on the third visit we keep coming at no charge until it stops. Every visit is written up with photographs of the stations and the entry points, and the report is the thing your landlord or your letting agent will ask for.
Proofing is where the job is won. A mouse gets through a gap the width of a pencil and a young rat through the width of a thumb; the gaps are round pipes under the sink, behind the boiler, at the air bricks and where the kitchen extension meets the old wall. We show you every one, quote to fill them with steel wool, mesh and mortar on the spot, or tell you how to do it yourself. A drain problem needs a drain camera, and we bring the contractor we use rather than guess.

Questions about rats and mice
Is the bait safe with a dog?
Every station is tamper-resistant and fixed down, so a dog or a toddler cannot get at the bait, and we place them where neither goes. If you are worried, we use snap traps in boxes in the kitchen instead.
Will there be a smell?
Occasionally, if a mouse dies under the floor; it lasts about ten days. We use baits that make that less likely, and we will lift a board to retrieve a rat if the smell is bad.
Seen something? Ring. Anything else, book a slot.
The 24-hour line is answered by a technician, and the call-out is a fixed price before anyone leaves. For anything that can wait for the morning, the booking form takes two minutes and we reply within the hour in working hours with a two-hour slot. Not sure what it is?
