Bees
Bumble bee
Low risk- What it looks like
- Large, round and fluffy, 15 to 25 mm, black with yellow or white bands, a slow heavy flight.
- The signs
- A few bees going in and out of a hole in the lawn, a bird box or under the shed; a small nest of a hundred or so that dies off in late summer.
- The risk
- Rarely stings, does no damage and is an important pollinator; the nest is gone by the autumn.
- What we do
- We leave them be and tell you how to live with them until the autumn, or move a nest in a bird box if it really cannot stay.
