Birds
Feral pigeon
Medium risk- What it looks like
- Grey with an iridescent neck, about 32 cm; roosts in groups on ledges, signs, under bridges and solar panels.
- The signs
- Droppings on ledges, signs and pavements; nests of twigs under panels and in voids; cooing in the roof.
- The risk
- Acidic droppings damage stone and make pavements slippery; they carry bacteria an environmental health officer will mention.
- What we do
- Fouling cleared and sanitised, then spikes, netting or solar panel mesh fitted so the birds land somewhere else. Nothing harmed.
