What it looks like
Tiny, 2 mm, dark brown, flattened side to side; jumps; you see the bites before the flea.
The signs
Small itchy bites round the ankles; pets scratching; black specks in the pet's fur that turn red on a damp tissue.
The risk
Itchy bites for people and pets, tapeworm in pets, and an infestation in the carpet that outlasts the pet treatment.
What we do
A spray of every floor with an insecticide and a growth regulator, the same day the pets are treated by the vet, and a free return.

Questions about the identifier

I am still not sure what it is.

Text a photograph to 07700 900 670, with something for scale if you can, and a technician will tell you, usually within the hour in the day. Droppings photographed next to a coin are the most useful picture you can send.

Can I treat it myself?

Ants, often, with a gel bait from a hardware shop; a few mice, sometimes, with snap traps. Rats, wasps, bed bugs and cockroaches, rarely: the shop products kill the ones you see and leave the nest. We will tell you honestly on the phone if a DIY fix will do.

Why is the bee free?

Because Nia keeps bees, a swarm is a colony she is glad to have, and killing honey bees is something we will not do. It costs us an evening and some petrol.

Does the price ever change?

Not for the jobs on this page. A wasp nest needing a tower, a block of flats with cockroaches in the risers, or a gull roof needing a platform is quoted, and we say so before we come.
