An engineer fitting a new circular fan element at the back of an open fan oven

A fan oven that has stopped heating but still has its light and fan on almost always has a broken element. It is one of the most common repairs we do and one of the most worth doing.

We repair electric single and double ovens, range cookers' electric ovens, ceramic and induction hobs, and cooker hoods. The usual faults are the fan oven element, the fan motor (noisy, then silent), the thermostat (burning everything or nothing), the door seal and hinges, and the selector switch. A ceramic hob ring that has stopped working is usually its element or its energy regulator.

We do not work on gas. If your cooker or hob is gas, or it is a dual-fuel range, we will repair the electric side and refer you to a Gas Safe registered engineer for anything with gas in it. If your oven is tripping the electrics, turn it off at the cooker switch and ring us; do not keep resetting the breaker.

Questions about ovens and hobs

Do you repair gas cookers?

No. We repair the electric parts of electric and dual-fuel appliances only. Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer and we will point you to one.

My oven trips the electrics. Is it safe?

Turn it off at the cooker switch and do not reset it again. It is usually an element that has failed to earth; we test and replace it.

Can you fix a cracked hob glass?

Sometimes, by replacing the glass top where the part is still made. On older hobs a new hob is usually cheaper.

Book a repair, or ask first.

Ring and describe the fault: if it is something you can fix yourself, we will talk you through it for nothing. If not, the call-out is £59 and it is included in the fixed repair price when you go ahead.
