A dishwasher with dirty water in the bottom has nearly always got a blocked filter or a blocked sump. That is a ten-minute job you can do yourself; the fault finder shows how. When it is not, we can usually fix it in a visit.
We start with the filters, the sump and the spray arms, because grease, glass and the odd olive stone cause most poor cleaning and draining. Then we check the drain pump, the non-return valve and the hose, and on machines that do not fill, the inlet valve and the water softener settings. Dishes that come out dirty and cold mean a failed heater or thermostat.
Integrated dishwashers are slid out, repaired and refitted with the door spring tension and the décor panel checked, because a door that drops too fast breaks hinges. If your dishwasher is leaking onto the floor, turn it off at the wall and at the stopcock under the sink before you ring.

What it costs
Call-out and diagnosis £59. Drain pump replaced £110, inlet valve £105, heater £135, all including the call-out. The call-out is included in every fixed repair price, and the prices page lists the common ones.
Questions about dishwashers
What should I check first?
The filter at the bottom of the tub, the spray arm holes, and that the sink waste the hose drains into is not blocked. The fault finder lists them.
Why are my glasses cloudy?
Usually hard water and no salt or rinse aid, or a softener set wrong for Merthyr water. We set it while we are there.
Do you fix integrated machines?
Yes, every make. Allow an hour and a half including taking it out and putting it back.
