Where it hurts

Where does it hurt?

Pick an area to see what we look at, how many appointments people usually need, what it costs, and the warning signs that mean a GP, 111 or 999 rather than an osteopath. General information, not a diagnosis.

Jaw

What we look at

How your jaw opens, closes and moves sideways; clicking and where it happens; the jaw muscles; your neck and posture; clenching and grinding, sleep and stress.

How many appointments

Two to four appointments, with exercises and habits to change. We work with your dentist if a splint might help.

What it costs

The first appointment is an hour for £58, follow-ups £48 (£42 for over-65s). More on headaches and jaw pain.

See a doctor instead if

  • Jaw pain with chest pain, breathlessness or sweating: ring 999. It can be the heart.
  • Jaw pain with a severe headache, fever or swelling of the face: same-day GP or 111.
  • Jaw pain when chewing in someone over fifty, with a tender scalp or vision changes: see your GP the same day.

These lists are not complete. If you are worried, ring NHS 111 Wales; in an emergency, ring 999.

Book an appointment, or ask first.

The first appointment is an hour and £58: questions and examination before any treatment, an honest view of whether osteopathy is the right thing, and a plan in plain words. Book a slot from the diary or ring the clinic.
