Where it hurts

Where does it hurt?

Pick an area to see what we look at, how many appointments people usually need, what it costs, and the warning signs that mean a GP, 111 or 999 rather than an osteopath. General information, not a diagnosis.

Headache

What we look at

A detailed history of the headaches; your neck, upper back and shoulders; the jaw; posture, work, sleep and screen time. We screen every headache for the signs that need a doctor first.

How many appointments

For neck-related and tension headaches, three to five appointments, with a diary to track what changes.

What it costs

The first appointment is an hour for £58, follow-ups £48 (£42 for over-65s). More on headaches and jaw pain.

See a doctor instead if

  • A sudden, severe headache, the worst you have ever had: ring 999.
  • A headache with a stiff neck, fever, a rash, confusion, or weakness or numbness on one side: ring 999.
  • A new headache after a head injury, or a headache that is getting steadily worse over days or weeks: see your GP urgently or ring 111.

These lists are not complete. If you are worried, ring NHS 111 Wales; in an emergency, ring 999.

Book an appointment, or ask first.

The first appointment is an hour and £58: questions and examination before any treatment, an honest view of whether osteopathy is the right thing, and a plan in plain words. Book a slot from the diary or ring the clinic.
