Sessions
Older adults at home
Forty-five minutes of strength and balance from the chair up, at the pace of the person, in their own home.

Forty-five minutes, strength and balance from the chair up, GP sign-off where needed, £38
Strength and balance are the two things most likely to keep someone living independently, and both can be trained at any age. The difference at eighty is the starting point, which is usually the chair the person sits in every day.
Before the first visit Dan rings the client, and a family member if they would like, to talk through health, medication, falls in the last year and what they want to be able to do: get to the shop, manage the stairs, get up off the floor after a fall, play with great-grandchildren. If there is a heart condition, recent surgery, unexplained falls or dizziness, we ask for a word from the GP first.
Sessions are forty-five minutes, slower than other sessions, and built around a few exercises done well: sit-to-stand from a firm chair, step-ups on a low step, standing balance next to a worktop, heel raises, a light band row, and practising getting down to and up from the floor with support. Each session ends with a short plan for the days between, written large.
Dan has a postural stability instructor qualification for falls prevention (a placeholder on this demonstration site) and twenty years in community exercise. Family members are welcome to sit in, and we are happy to show a carer the between-visit routine.

Questions about older adults
My mother is ninety-one. Is it too late?
No. The oldest client we have coached was ninety-six. The starting point is lower and the goals are practical, but strength still improves.
What if she has had falls?
Tell us. We will ask her GP whether there is anything we should know, and we practise getting up from the floor safely.
Can I book and pay for a parent?
Yes. Many visits are booked by sons and daughters; we keep you updated if your parent agrees.
Start with a free thirty-minute taster at home.
Check your postcode, then tell us when suits. Jac or Dan replies within the hour between visits with a time for a free taster: a look at the space, a short health questionnaire, a few exercises and a plan.
