£18 an hour in a group of four at most, grouped by level, GCSE maths, English and science and the 11+
Small-group lessons
Four students at most at one table with one tutor, grouped by level rather than by age, for an hour a week in GCSE maths, English, the sciences and the 11+: the structure of a class at the price of a group and the attention of a very small one. The timetable page has every group, its level and the spaces left.

A group of four is not a cheaper version of one-to-one; it is a different thing, and for some students a better one. Explaining a method to the person next to you is the best test of whether you understand it, and a student who is shy about asking a tutor will ask a peer. We group by level, so a Year 10 who is ahead sits with Year 11s, and a Year 11 who needs the basics sits with people who need the same.
Groups run on a fixed timetable after school Monday to Thursday and on Saturday mornings, each a particular subject at a particular level (foundation or higher at GCSE, the 11+ by paper), and a student joins the one that fits after the free first session. The tutor runs the hour with a plan, a worked example, practice and feedback, and the same group sits together each week for the half term. Homework is set and marked.
Groups are £18 an hour paid by the half term, or £16 on a term plan. If a group drops to two for a half term it runs anyway at the same price; if a student needs more than a group can give we say so and suggest one-to-one, and the other way round. A full group is marked on the timetable and we keep a waiting list.

Questions about small groups
What if my child is in a group that is too easy or too hard?
We move them, usually within a fortnight of noticing. Grouping by level is the point and we keep checking it.
Do groups run in the holidays?
Not the weekly ones; the Easter and October intensives are groups of four too, on a different timetable, priced separately.
Start with the free session. Forty-five minutes, no obligation.
Tell us the year group and the subject, and we match a tutor and offer a slot for a free first session at the centre or online: an assessment, a chat with you both, and an honest view of what would help. We reply within the working day. Or ring the office.
