£34 an hour one-to-one on a shared whiteboard, the same tutors, for students who cannot get to Heath
Online lessons
The same tutors and the same plan over a video call with a shared whiteboard, for students outside Cardiff, students who cannot get to Heath on a school night, and A-level students who would rather work from their desk. One-to-one at £34 an hour; recorded if you want, with the whiteboard saved and sent after each lesson.

Online tutoring done badly is a face in a window and a textbook held up to the camera. Done properly it is a shared whiteboard both people write on, a document camera on the tutor's desk, the past paper on screen, and the whole lesson saved and sent to the student afterwards. Our tutors did a year of it in 2020 and the ones who were good at it kept doing it.
Lessons run on our own video and whiteboard platform (a link, no account to create) from the tutor's room at the centre, so the student gets the same person, the same materials and the same plan as they would in the building. Maths and the sciences work especially well because every line of working is on the shared board and the tutor can see where it goes wrong; essays are marked on screen with comments the student can keep.
Online is £4 an hour less than one-to-one at the centre because there is no room to pay for. We recommend it from Year 9 upwards; younger children do better in the building. A mix is fine: the centre on Saturday and online on a weeknight. The half-term reports are the same, and parents can join the last five minutes of any lesson.

Questions about online
What does my child need?
A laptop or a tablet with a camera, a quiet table, and a notebook. A second screen or a tablet with a stylus helps for maths but is not needed.
Is it as good?
For most students from Year 9 up, in most subjects, yes, and for some it is better because they are at their own desk. For a child who finds focus hard, the building is better and we will say so.
Start with the free session. Forty-five minutes, no obligation.
Tell us the year group and the subject, and we match a tutor and offer a slot for a free first session at the centre or online: an assessment, a chat with you both, and an honest view of what would help. We reply within the working day. Or ring the office.
