How we teach

Six ways to work, each priced.

One tutor at one desk, four round a table, a shared whiteboard from your kitchen, five mornings before the exams, a primary teacher for a Year 4, an examiner for an A-level. Each has its own page with what it costs and how it works, and the free first session is where we work out which fits your child.

All six

01

One-to-one tuition

An hour a week with one tutor at one desk, on the things your child actually finds hard: the first forty-five minutes free as an assessment, then a plan to the exam board's specification, past papers and mark schemes, and a report to you every half term. The way most of our students work, for most subjects.

Primary, 11+ and Key Stage 3 £32 an hour; GCSE £38; A-level £42.

02

Small-group lessons

Four students at most at one table with one tutor, grouped by level rather than by age, for an hour a week in GCSE maths, English, the sciences and the 11+: the structure of a class at the price of a group and the attention of a very small one. The timetable page has every group, its level and the spaces left.

£18 an hour, paid by the half term; £16 an hour on a term plan.

03

Online lessons

The same tutors and the same plan over a video call with a shared whiteboard, for students outside Cardiff, students who cannot get to Heath on a school night, and A-level students who would rather work from their desk. One-to-one at £34 an hour; recorded if you want, with the whiteboard saved and sent after each lesson.

£34 an hour one-to-one, any level.

04

Exam intensives

Five mornings in the Easter or October half-term holidays, three hours a day in a group of four, on one GCSE or A-level subject: the whole specification revised in order, a timed past paper every day marked overnight, exam technique taught rather than assumed, and a report at the end saying what to do in the last weeks. £480 including the papers and the mock.

£480 for fifteen hours over five mornings, groups of four at most, including papers and a marked mock.

05

11+ and primary

For Years 3 to 6: confidence with reading, writing and maths in one-to-one sessions at £32 an hour with tutors who are primary teachers, and for families applying to selective or independent schools, the 11+ course: thirty hours in a group of four across the autumn term covering verbal and non-verbal reasoning, maths and English, with four timed mocks and honest feedback on whether to sit it.

One-to-one £32 an hour, blocks of ten £295.

06

A-level tuition

One-to-one at £42 an hour with a tutor who has a degree in the subject or teaches it at A-level: maths and further maths, biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, economics, history, English and languages. For the student who needs the A for the offer, the student who got a D in the mocks, and the student who finds the step up from GCSE bigger than anyone said.

£42 an hour one-to-one at the centre, £34 online, blocks of ten £390.

The free first session

Forty-five minutes, four things.

  1. A chat with you both

Ten minutes with the parent and the student together: what school says, what the student says, what the deadline is, and what has been tried. We listen more than we talk.

  2. An assessment

Twenty-five minutes with the tutor on a short piece of work at the right level: a past-paper section, a reading task, a page of problems. Not a test to pass; a way of seeing where the gaps are.

  3. An honest view

Ten minutes at the end: where we think your child is, what would help, which of the six ways fits, and whether tutoring is the right answer at all. Sometimes the honest view is a book and twenty minutes a day.

  4. A plan, if you want one

Within two days, a written plan: the tutor, the slot, the topics in order, the exam board and the milestones. You decide. There is no charge for the session and nothing to sign.

Every half term

The report says why, and what next.

Six times a year, a written report from the tutor: what was covered, what the student can now do that they could not, where the gaps still are, the grade we think they are at against the target, and two or three things to do at home. Eleri reads every one before it goes out. The school report tells you how your child did; ours tells you why, and what to do about it.

Tell us the year group and the subject, and we match a tutor and offer a slot for a free first session at the centre or online: an assessment, a chat with you both, and an honest view of what would help. We reply within the working day. Or ring the office.
