Easter and October: fifteen hours over five mornings in a group of four, £480, with a timed mock marked

Exam intensives

Five mornings in the Easter or October half-term holidays, three hours a day in a group of four, on one GCSE or A-level subject: the whole specification revised in order, a timed past paper every day marked overnight, exam technique taught rather than assumed, and a report at the end saying what to do in the last weeks. £480 including the papers and the mock.

A quiet exam-practice room with rows of single desks and past papers, three students writing in silence

The last holiday before the exams is the most valuable fifteen hours in the year, and most students spend it rereading notes. The intensive is a group of four with one tutor working through the whole specification in order, doing a timed paper every day under exam conditions, and getting it back marked the next morning with the mark scheme explained. Students leave knowing their grade and what to do about it.

Mornings are 9:30 to 12:30 Monday to Friday of the holiday week, in a group of four at most grouped by level and board. Each morning covers a block of the specification with worked examples and practice, then a timed section of a past paper, which the tutor marks that evening against the mark scheme. Friday is a full timed paper under exam conditions in the quiet room, marked and returned with a written report by the following Monday.

We run intensives in GCSE maths (foundation and higher), English language, English literature, combined and separate sciences, and A-level maths, biology, chemistry and psychology, subject to numbers. Afternoons in the same week can take a second subject at £420. Places go about six weeks out; the timetable page lists the dates and the spaces.

Questions about intensives

Is it too late at Easter?

No. Easter to the first exam is six to eight weeks, and a student who knows exactly which topics are losing marks can gain a grade in that time. It is too late in May.

Can my child do it online?

The October one, yes, as a group of four online. Easter is at the centre only, because the mock under exam conditions is the point.

Tell us the year group and the subject, and we match a tutor and offer a slot for a free first session at the centre or online: an assessment, a chat with you both, and an honest view of what would help. We reply within the working day. Or ring the office.
