Your position
Which position are you?
Tick what you enjoy, and we will draw where on the court that puts you. It is a starting point: in your first few months we will move you about anyway.

What do you like doing?
All seven
Who goes where.
Each bib lets you into certain thirds of the court. Go anywhere else and the umpire blows. Dark teal shows where you can go; pink means you can go in the shooting circle.
| Bib | Position | Allowed | What she does |
|---|---|---|---|
| GS | Goal Shooter | Stays near the post and scores. Only GS and GA can shoot, and GS lives in the goal third. | |
| GA | Goal Attack | Shoots and also feeds. Moves between the goal and centre thirds, and is forever on the go. | |
| WA | Wing Attack | Takes the ball from the centre pass and feeds it into the circle. Quick feet and quick eyes. | |
| C | Centre | Goes everywhere except the two circles. Takes every other centre pass, and runs the most miles. | |
| WD | Wing Defence | Shadows the wing attack and spoils her day. Never allowed in the circle. | |
| GD | Goal Defence | Marks the goal attack and reads the pass. Good defenders get their hands on a lot of ball. | |
| GK | Goal Keeper | Stays in the defending third, marks the shooter and takes the rebounds. The last line. |
Questions about positions
What do the letters mean?
The letters on a bib tell you where you can go. GS is goal shooter, GA goal attack, WA wing attack, C centre, WD wing defence, GD goal defence and GK goal keeper.
What happens if I go in the wrong area?
The umpire blows, and the other team gets a free pass. You will do it a lot at first. We all did.
Can I change position?
All the time. We rotate on purpose, especially in the first few months.
Do I need to be tall to be a shooter or keeper?
It helps, but timing beats height surprisingly often. Plenty of short keepers are a nuisance.
Your first session is free. Bring trainers and some nerve.
You do not need to be fit, young or any good at all. Come along, try a bib on, and see who is laughing by the end of the warm-up. It is usually everyone.
