What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to ask us about it.

What we collect

When you use the quote form we collect your name, phone number, email address and postcode, the moving date if you give one, what you need and roughly when, and anything you write, which usually includes the address you are moving to. The form also records the time it was sent and your IP address, used only to block automated submissions. The estimate page and the checklist page collect nothing: the estimate is worked out from the address bar and the checklist ticks stay in your browser.

When you book we hold the quote, the job sheet (both addresses, access notes, the inventory from the survey, the crew and the van), the deposit and payment records, and any claim. The video survey is a live call and is not recorded. For storage we hold the licence agreement, the unit number, your fob number, your contents declaration for insurance, and the gate and door access log, which the licence requires us to keep.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and quote the job (our legitimate interest in replying to you).
  • To perform the contract: planning and carrying out the move, running the storage, invoicing, and handling a claim under the goods-in-transit cover.
  • To keep accounting records (a legal obligation) and the storage access log (the licence and our insurer require it).
  • To ask for a review a week after the job, which you can decline by replying.

Who sees it

The office team and the crew on your job, who get the job sheet and nothing else. The review platform receives your email address once, to send the invitation. Our insurer receives details of a claim. The quote form sends an email to us through the web host. We never sell or share your details, and we do not pass addresses to estate agents, utilities or anyone else.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted after twelve months. Job sheets and quotes are kept for two years in case of a claim; accounting records for six years as the law requires; storage agreements for two years after you leave; the access log for twelve months.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our using it, or ask us not to send the review invitation. Email hello@taffremovals.co.uk or write to the depot. We answer within a month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and local storage

This website sets a session cookie only when you send the quote form, to limit repeat submissions; it expires when you close the browser. The checklist page keeps your ticks in your browser's local storage so they are there when you come back; nothing is sent to us and the "clear" button removes them. There are no analytics or advertising cookies. The map on the find-us page is loaded from Google, which may set its own cookies when it is displayed; the page works without it.
