The team

Eight people, all employed.

Everyone who surveys, designs or fits for us is on our payroll: electricians, roofers, heat pump engineers, a surveyor and a commercial engineer, plus the office. No subcontractors on your roof, and the same faces at the survey and the switch-on.

Rhodri Jenkins

Founder and lead electrician

An electrician for twenty years and a solar installer since 2011, he set up Southside in 2014 after three years fitting for a national firm that sold more than it designed. Designs most of the domestic solar himself, signs off every installation, and answers the breakdown line one weekend in three.

Kelly Bowen

Heat pump lead

Trained as a gas engineer, retrained on heat pumps in 2019 and now runs the heat pump side: the heat-loss surveys, the designs, the installs and the annual services. Has a low tolerance for oversized heat pumps and an unusual enthusiasm for radiators.

Accreditation

What the badges mean.

MCS certified

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme for solar, batteries and heat pumps. It makes your system eligible for export payments and the heat pump grant, and it audits our designs and installs.

NICEIC approved

Our electrical work is assessed every year and certified to the wiring regulations; you get an electrical installation certificate for every job.

RECC consumer code

A consumer code for renewable installers: clear contracts, deposits protected, a cooling-off period, and an independent dispute process if we cannot put something right.

Insured warranty

Our ten-year workmanship warranty is insurance-backed, so it survives us. The numbers on this demonstration site are placeholders.

A free survey, then a fixed price.

An hour on your roof and in your loft with our surveyor, then a written design with the expected generation and a fixed price that does not change unless the job does. Free within thirty miles of Pyle, and no obligation.
