Sized room by room, fitted by our own engineers, with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant claimed for you
Air source heat pumps
Air source heat pumps sized from a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, fitted with a new hot water cylinder and the radiators that need changing, by our own heat pump engineers. We apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf and take it off the price. The sizer gives a first idea by bedrooms.

A heat pump is a fridge in reverse: it moves warmth from the outside air into your heating and hot water, using about one unit of electricity to deliver three or four of heat. It works best in a house that holds its heat, at lower flow temperatures, running steadily.
Everything starts with the heat loss. Our surveyor measures every room, its windows, walls, floor and ceiling, and calculates how much heat it loses on a cold January day, to the MCS standard. That sets the size of the heat pump and tells us which radiators can stay and which need to be larger. A heat pump sized by guesswork is either too small and cold, or too big and inefficient.
A typical installation takes three to five days: the outdoor unit on a pad or wall brackets, a new hot water cylinder where the old one was (or in the loft space of a combi home), new pipework where needed, the radiators changed, and the controls set up for low, steady temperatures. The old boiler is removed and recycled.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives a grant towards an air source heat pump that replaces fossil fuel heating, in England and Wales. At the time of writing Ofgem publishes it as £7,500; we apply for you and take it off the price, so you never pay it and claim it back. The heat pump page explains who qualifies, in plain words.
What is included
- A room-by-room heat-loss survey to the MCS standard
- The heat pump, a new cylinder and the radiators that need it
- Controls set for low, steady temperatures
- The old boiler removed and recycled
- The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant applied for you
- Seven-day breakdown line for customers
What it costs
Typically £9,800 to £14,000 installed before the grant, depending on size and radiators. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant comes off the price. The savings estimate shows what a solar system might produce and save on your roof, with every assumption beside it; the heat pump sizer gives a first size and explains the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Questions about heat pumps
Will a heat pump work in my house?
Most houses that can be kept warm with a boiler can be kept warm with a heat pump, sometimes with larger radiators and better loft insulation. The heat-loss survey tells you, and we will say if your house needs work first.
Do I qualify for the grant?
Usually, if you own the home, it is in England or Wales, the heat pump replaces gas, oil, LPG or electric heating, and you have a valid EPC with no outstanding recommendation for loft or cavity wall insulation. The heat pump page sets it out.
Is it noisy?
A modern unit is about as loud as a fridge at a metre, and quieter at the boundary. We place it to meet the permitted development noise limit and away from bedroom windows.
