Designed for your roof after a survey, fitted by our own MCS engineers, 0% VAT on homes, from about £4,700 for ten panels
Solar panels
Solar panels designed for your roof after a free survey, fitted by our own MCS-certified roofers and electricians, with the inverter, the isolators, the DNO notification and the export registration done for you. A ten-panel system is about £6,000 installed; the savings estimate shows what it might produce.

Solar panels make the most sense on a roof that faces somewhere between south-east and south-west, in a home where somebody uses electricity in the day. The survey tells you how close your roof comes to that, and the design tells you what it should produce.
The survey takes about an hour. Our surveyor measures the roof, checks the rafters and the tiles or slates, looks for shade from chimneys, trees and neighbours through the day and the year, looks at the consumer unit and where an inverter could go, and asks about your electricity use. You get a written design with the panel layout, the expected yearly generation under the MCS method, and a fixed price.
Installation is usually two days: scaffold up on the first morning, rails and panels on the roof, the inverter and isolators in the loft or garage, and commissioning on the second afternoon. We notify the network operator, register the system with MCS and help you choose a Smart Export Guarantee tariff so you are paid for what you export.
We fit tier-one panels of about 435 watts with a 25-year product warranty, and a hybrid inverter, so a battery can be added later without changing anything on the roof. Bird mesh round the array is included on every job; pigeons love a warm panel.
Panels need planning permission only on listed buildings, in some conservation areas and on flat roofs where they stand proud; we check before the survey and handle the application if one is needed.
What is included
- A free roof and loft survey
- A written design with expected generation
- Tier-one panels, 25-year product warranty
- A hybrid inverter, ready for a battery
- DNO notification, MCS certificate, export registration
- Bird mesh and a ten-year workmanship warranty
What it costs
About £6,000 for ten 435W panels (4.35kWp) on a straightforward roof, scaffold and inverter included. 0% VAT on homes until 31 March 2027. The savings estimate shows what a solar system might produce and save on your roof, with every assumption beside it; the heat pump sizer gives a first size and explains the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Questions about solar panels
How much will solar panels save me?
It depends on your roof, your use and the price you pay for electricity, which is why our savings estimate shows every assumption. The survey replaces the estimate with a design for your roof; we never promise a saving.
Do panels work in Welsh weather?
Yes. They work on daylight, not heat, and a south-facing roof in Bridgend county produces roughly 900kWh a year for each kilowatt of panels. Summer does most of the work; December produces little.
Is there VAT on solar panels?
Not on homes at the moment: solar panels and batteries installed on homes are zero-rated until 31 March 2027. Our quotes show the VAT line so you can see it.
