Farms, workshops, schools and units: 10 to 250kW on the roof, designed for daytime use and grid limits
Commercial roofs
Solar on farm buildings, workshops, industrial units, schools and church halls, from 10 to 250kW, designed around your daytime use and the network operator's export limit, with batteries where they pay. A structural check, a G99 application and an install that keeps the business running.

Businesses use most of their electricity in the day, when the sun is up, which makes commercial solar some of the best-paying solar there is.
We start with half-hourly consumption data if you have it, or a meter reading schedule if you do not, and design a system that covers your daytime base load without exporting more than the network will accept. A structural engineer checks the roof; for older farm buildings that sometimes means strengthening purlins first.
Systems over 3.68kW per phase need the network operator's approval under G99 before installation, which can take weeks; we make the application and handle any export limitation it asks for. Installation is planned around your working day, and we can work weekends on schools and shops.
We have fitted dairies, poultry sheds, garages, a brewery, two schools and a rugby club, and we are happy to show you one of them working.
What is included
- Designed from your consumption data
- Structural engineer's check
- G99 application and export limits handled
- Batteries where the sums work
- Installed around your working day
- Monitoring and an annual health check
What it costs
Priced per project after a site visit; typically £850 to £1,100 per kW installed, depending on size and roof. The savings estimate shows what a solar system might produce and save on your roof, with every assumption beside it; the heat pump sizer gives a first size and explains the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Questions about commercial roofs
How long does a commercial job take?
Design and the G99 approval usually take four to ten weeks; installation from two days for 30kW to two weeks for 200kW.
Can we finance it?
Many businesses use asset finance; we can introduce a broker, but we do not arrange finance ourselves and do not give financial advice.
Will it work on an asbestos roof?
Not directly. Asbestos cement roofs usually need over-cladding or replacing first; we will tell you on the visit.
