Unattended cremation
Sometimes called direct cremation. We bring your person into our care, provide a simple coffin, and take them to the crematorium at an early time with no mourners present. The ashes come back to you within a fortnight for whatever you want to do. One price, in full, on the website.
More people choose this every year, for all sorts of reasons: the person asked for it, the family is spread across the world and wants to gather later, or the money is better spent on a celebration than a cortege. It is a proper cremation, carried out by us with the same care, and it costs under two thousand pounds.
We bring your person into our care within the hour if that is needed, any time of day or night, and complete all the paperwork with the registrar and the crematorium. They rest in our chapel on Station Road; you can visit before the cremation if you wish, by appointment, at no charge. On the day we take them to Llanelli crematorium in the hearse, in a simple coffin, for an early-morning committal that no one attends. Huw goes in with them; nobody is ever alone.
The ashes are ready within ten days and we return them to you in a simple container, or hold them for a scattering or a memorial you arrange later: many families hold a gathering a few weeks on, somewhere that was the person's, and we are glad to help with that too. The price is the whole price. It does not go up if you visit, if the person is large, if it is a weekend, or if we collect from a house rather than a hospital.

What it costs
Our charge £1,395 plus the crematorium's early-slot fee of £495: £1,890 in all, with nothing else to pay unless you ask for it. Our charges carry no VAT; third-party fees are passed on at cost. The prices page has the standardised price list, the packages and every extra.
Questions about unattended cremation
Can we be there?
Not at the committal itself: the early slot is unattended, which is what makes it cheaper. If you want a small number of people present at a committal with no service, ask for the simple funeral instead, which is the next step up.
Is it less respectful?
No. The same people bring your person into our care, the same chapel, the same hearse, and Huw walks in with them. What is missing is the service, and many families hold their own in their own time.
