The account, the paperwork, and someone to talk to

After the funeral

The final account that matches the estimate, help with the Tell Us Once service, probate and the forms, the bereavement support groups we host on Station Road, and a phone that still answers when the cards have stopped coming.

A tree-lined path through a peaceful cemetery with old headstones and a chapel in the distance, autumn leaves on the ground

The funeral is one day; the rest takes months. We are not solicitors or counsellors, but we have sat with hundreds of families through the part after, and a lot of it we can simply do, or point you to the right person on the first attempt.

The account comes a week after the funeral and is the estimate with any changes you made, in the same layout. Payment is due within thirty days; if you are on certain benefits the Department for Work and Pensions' Funeral Expenses Payment covers the third-party fees and up to £1,000 of ours, and we fill the form in with you. We register the death with you if you want company at the registrar's, hand you the forms for Tell Us Once so the pension, passport, driving licence and council are told in one go, and give you a one-page list of who else usually needs to know, with the phone numbers.

Probate, the will, the house: we are not qualified to advise and will not pretend to, but we know which three solicitors in Llanelli do this well and which charge a fixed fee, and we will say. The bereavement group meets in our rooms on the first Tuesday evening of the month, led by a counsellor from the hospice, free, for anyone we have looked after; and Eleri rings every family at six weeks, because that is when the house goes quiet.

What it costs

All of it is free, and the account is payable 30 days after the funeral, or we help you apply for the Funeral Expenses Payment if it applies. Our charges carry no VAT; third-party fees are passed on at cost. The prices page has the standardised price list, the packages and every extra.

Questions about after the funeral

Can we pay in instalments?

Yes, by arrangement, with no interest. Tell us at the arrangement rather than after the account, and we will write it down.

Do you charge for the six-week call?

No. Nor for the group, the forms or the list. These are part of having looked after someone.

If you need us, ring. Any hour, one of us answers.

For a death that has just happened, the number below rings Eleri, Catrin or Huw day or night, and we can be with you within the hour. For anything that can wait, the form on the contact page is answered the same working day, and plans, prices and what to do first each have their own page.
