Arranged where you wantAt your kitchen table, in our rooms on Station Road, or over the phone and email if you are far away. The arrangement takes about an hour, and nothing is decided until you have slept on it.

What we do

Six things, each explained and priced.

All six

01

Attended funerals

A funeral with a service that family and friends attend, at the crematorium, a church or chapel, a cemetery, or somewhere that was theirs. We arrange everything, with you deciding each part, and our charge for it is on the price list.

Our charges £2,650, or £1,995 for the simple funeral; third-party fees such as the crematorium and the minister are on top and shown separately.

02

Unattended cremation

Sometimes called direct cremation. We bring your person into our care, provide a simple coffin, and take them to the crematorium at an early time with no mourners present. The ashes come back to you within a fortnight for whatever you want to do. One price, in full, on the website.

Our charge £1,395 plus the crematorium's early-slot fee of £495: £1,890 in all, with nothing else to pay unless you ask for it.

03

Pre-paid funeral plans

A plan fixes what you want and pays for our part of it at today's price. Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority since 2022, the money held in a trust we cannot touch, and a guarantee that our charges are covered in full whenever the plan is needed.

Plans from £1,795 for an unattended cremation and from £3,250 for an attended funeral, paid in one sum or over up to five years.

04

Coffins, flowers and cars

A range of coffins from a simple veneered one, included in our charge, to willow, cardboard, oak and painted; flowers made by a florist we have used for twenty years; a limousine or two if you want them; and service sheets printed here. Each on the price list.

The simplest coffin is included; willow £795, oak £1,150.

05

Ashes and memorials

What to do with the ashes, in the weeks or years after: a scattering we can arrange or simply advise on, an urn or keepsakes from the shelf at Station Road, a plot in the garden of remembrance, or a headstone from the stonemason in Burry Port.

A scatter tube £35, urns from £65, keepsakes from £40.

06

After the funeral

The final account that matches the estimate, help with the Tell Us Once service, probate and the forms, the bereavement support groups we host on Station Road, and a phone that still answers when the cards have stopped coming.

All of it is free, and the account is payable 30 days after the funeral, or we help you apply for the Funeral Expenses Payment if it applies.

Prices

The whole price list, in the format the law requires, before you ring.

Our charge for an attended funeral is £2,650, or £1,995 for the simple weekday version; an unattended cremation is £1,395. On top are the third-party fees, which we show on their own lines and pass on at cost: the crematorium's £905 (£495 for the early unattended slot), a minister or celebrant about £220, a new council grave from £1,120. The written estimate you take home matches the website, and the account matches the estimate.

How we work

Four things you can expect, whoever you speak to.

A person, not a menu

Day or night the phone is answered by Eleri, Catrin or Huw. No options to press, no "your call is important", no handing you to a branch forty miles away.

A written estimate before anything is booked

After the arrangement you get a one-page estimate with our charges and the third-party fees on separate lines, and the final account is that document unless you change something.

Visit whenever you need to

The chapel of rest is yours to visit by appointment, including evenings and weekends, as often as you want. We bring your person to you, not the other way round.

Nothing you do not want

Limousines, embalming, flowers through us, a service sheet: all optional, all priced, none assumed. A simple funeral done well is not a lesser funeral.

What to do first

Someone has died. Here is what the first night and the first week look like.

If it was expected and at home, the GP or district nurse confirms the death, and then you ring us; nothing else needs doing that night. In hospital or a care home, they will ask which funeral director. If it was unexpected, 999, and the coroner's office will be in touch. We come to you, usually within the hour, and the arrangement itself waits until you are ready, a day or two on, at your table or ours.

You

There is no wrong time. If the death was expected and at home, the GP or district nurse confirms it and then you ring us. In hospital or a care home, they will ask which funeral director; say us and we do the rest. Nothing else needs doing that night.

Us

Huw and one of us come to the house, the hospital or the home, usually within the hour, in an unmarked vehicle. We are not in a hurry. Your person is brought to Station Road and from then on you can visit whenever you want.

Attended funeral

Mam died at home at two in the morning and Eleri answered the phone herself. Huw was with us by three, no rush, and he spoke to her as he took her out, which I will not forget. The estimate was what the bill was. I had braced for it being more, because everyone says it is.

Ann and David L.Llanelli
Unattended cremation

Dad wanted no fuss and we did the unattended cremation. £1,890, exactly as the website said, and Catrin let us sit with him in the chapel the evening before. We scattered him at Pembrey in May with sixty people and a brass band, which is what he actually wanted, and Morgans told us who to ask about the beach.

Pre-paid plan

I took out a plan after my sister's funeral, which they had done. Catrin came to the house, told me the crematorium fee was not something any plan could fix and showed me the allowance in pounds, and said if my children were likely to cope I might not need one. I took it anyway, for the children, and it is in the drawer.

Questions families ask first

Someone has just died. What do I do first?

If it was expected, at home, ring the GP or the district nurse to confirm the death, then ring us at any hour and we come to you. If in hospital or a care home, they will ask which funeral director; say Morgan & Daughters and we take it from there. If it was unexpected, ring 999 and the coroner's office will contact you; you can still ring us for what happens next. Nothing else needs doing that night. The full guide is on the what to do first page.

How much does a funeral cost?

Our charge for an attended funeral is £2,650, or £1,995 for the simple weekday version; an unattended cremation is £1,395. On top are the third-party fees, which we pass on at cost: Llanelli crematorium £905 (£495 for the early unattended slot), a minister or celebrant about £220, a new council grave from £1,120. The whole price list is on the website in the standardised format.

Do we have to come to you?

No. Most arrangements are made at the family's kitchen table, and we can do it over the phone and email if you are far away. Our rooms on Station Road are there if you would rather, and the chapel of rest is always here to visit.

How quickly does the funeral happen?

Usually ten days to three weeks from the death, set by the crematorium or cemetery diary, the minister and when people can travel. It can be faster where there is a religious reason, and the unattended cremation usually within a week. There is no need to rush and we will not.

Can we pay later, or in instalments?

The account is due thirty days after the funeral; instalments without interest by arrangement, agreed before the funeral. If you receive certain benefits the Funeral Expenses Payment may cover the third-party fees and part of ours, and we do the form with you.

If you need us, ring. Any hour, one of us answers.

For a death that has just happened, the number below rings Eleri, Catrin or Huw day or night, and we can be with you within the hour. For anything that can wait, the form on the contact page is answered the same working day, and plans, prices and what to do first each have their own page.
