Energy estimate
An energy estimate, every assumption shown.
Roughly what you use in a day and a gentle range below it, never under 1,200 for women or 1,500 for men. Not for under-18s or pregnancy.

Which week is yours?
Most people overestimate. If you are between two, choose the lower one.
Mostly sitting, × 1.2
A desk job, driving, under about 5,000 steps a day, no planned exercise.
Lightly active, × 1.375
On your feet some of the day or 5,000 to 8,000 steps, or one to three sessions a week.
Moderately active, × 1.55
An active job or 8,000 to 12,000 steps, or three to five sessions a week.
Very active, × 1.725
A physical job and exercise most days, or hard training six days a week.
Questions about the estimate
Why does it never go below 1,200 or 1,500?
Below those figures it becomes hard to get enough protein, vitamins and minerals from food, and very low intakes tend to be followed by rebound eating. Lower intakes are sometimes used under medical supervision; that is a conversation for your GP, not a website.
Why does it ask for sex?
The equation was built from measurements of men and women and adds a different constant for each. If neither fits you well, try both and treat the space between as the range.
Is my data stored?
No. The figures are in the page address and nowhere else; nothing is saved or sent to us unless you book.
Do I have to count calories to work with you?
No. Many clients never count anything. The estimate is there for people who find a number useful.
