A euro cylinder from £85, an anti-snap 3-star £120, a BS3621 mortice £135, fitted and tidied
Lock fitting and replacement
New locks for a new house, lost keys, a tenant change, a divorce, an insurer's letter or a lock that has just worn out: supplied and fitted at a price on this website, with the grade your insurer asks for, the old lock bagged and the keys tried in your hand. Booked jobs get a two-hour slot and a text on the way.

Most lock changes take under an hour and most people put them off for years. The two reasons to do it now: keys that are out there with people who should not have them, and insurance, because a claim after a break-in through a lock that did not meet the standard in your policy can be refused. The lock guide explains the grades; this page is what they cost fitted.
uPVC and composite doors take a euro cylinder: £85 for a standard one or £120 for a TS007 3-star anti-snap cylinder, which is what we recommend and what most insurers now require, because the standard ones can be snapped in seconds with a pair of grips. Wooden doors take a mortice deadlock (£135 for a BS3621 five-lever) and usually a nightlatch (£125 for a BS3621 one with a deadlocking snib); both together with a matching finish is £240. Keyed-alike sets, so one key does the front, back and garage, are priced on the phone and usually add £15 a lock.
A booked lock change is a two-hour slot Monday to Saturday from 8am, with a text when the locksmith sets off. We bring the common sizes and finishes on the van and measure anything unusual on a first visit at no charge. The old lock goes in a bag if you want it, the swarf is hoovered, three keys are tried in your hand, and the invoice has the lock's grade on it for the insurer. Anything we fit that fails in the first year is replaced free.

Questions about lock fitting
Can I buy the lock myself and have you fit it?
Yes: fitting a cylinder you supply is £45 and a mortice £75. We will tell you honestly if what you have bought is the wrong size or a grade your insurer will not accept.
How many keys come with it?
Three, cut to the lock. More are £6 each for a standard cylinder; registered anti-snap cylinders need the card and are £12.
Locked out? Ring. Anything else, book a slot.
The emergency line is answered by one of us, 24 hours a day, and a lockout is a fixed price on the phone before anyone leaves the van. For a lock change, a uPVC repair, a car key or a safe, the booking form takes two minutes and we reply within the working day with a two-hour slot.
