The team

Three who run it, eighty-seven who clean.

Bethan started the company from a van in 2012 and wrote the audit every site still runs on. Gareth runs the rota, the cover and the vans. Sophie came up from an operative on a Bay office contract and now runs twenty-two sites. Every operative is on our payroll, and your site gets a named supervisor.

The people

Bethan Rees, a woman in her mid-forties with shoulder-length brown hair in a navy blazer over a white shirt, standing in a glass-walled office lobby

Bethan Rees

Managing director. Specifications, contracts, the audit system

Ran facilities for a Cardiff university campus before starting the company from a van in 2012 with four office contracts. Wrote the specification template and the audit scoring that every site still runs on, and still does the first survey on every new contract. Chairs the monthly review where the audit scores are read out, lowest first.

Gareth Owen, a man in his early fifties with grey hair and a neat beard in a navy fleece with a lanyard, beside a white van at an office loading bay

Gareth Owen

Operations manager. Rotas, cover, the vans, the specialist work

Twenty years in contract cleaning, the last nine here. Runs the rota for eighty-seven operatives across sixty-four sites, the cover for sickness and holidays, the three vans and the floor machines, and the builders' cleans and floor restoration himself. The number the supervisors ring at five in the morning.

Sophie Hughes, a woman in her early thirties with dark hair tied back in a navy tunic holding a tablet in a bright office corridor

Sophie Hughes

Senior supervisor. Cardiff Bay and city-centre sites, the audits

Started as an operative on a Bay office contract in 2017, became a supervisor in 2019 and now runs the twenty-two Bay and city-centre sites with two supervisors under her. Does more audits than anyone, trains new supervisors on the tablet, and is the person the office managers ask for by name.

Every operative

What every operative has before their first shift on your site.

Enhanced DBS check

Every operative, renewed every three years, with the barred-list check for schools and the certificate number for your records.

BICSc training

Trained and assessed to British Institute of Cleaning Science standards, with infection control for clinical sites and food hygiene for kitchens.

A site induction

Walked round your building by the supervisor before the first shift: the alarm, the specification, the areas that are out of bounds, the fire exits.

Paid properly, so they stay

Above the real living wage, travel time paid, the same site every shift. Turnover was eleven per cent last year, which is why your team is the same team.

A primary school classroom after cleaning in the evening, small chairs stacked on tables and a cleaner mopping the floor

Cover

Sickness and holiday are covered from staff already inducted on your site.

Every site has at least two operatives who know it, and the supervisor can step in. Cover is never an agency and never someone who has not been inducted on your building. You are told who is coming, the specification does not change, and the app timesheet shows who was there.
