Full and partial, with the dust managed
Rewiring
Full rewires for houses with rubber, lead or 1960s cable, and partial rewires where one circuit has failed, planned room by room so you can live in the house.

A rewire is the most disruptive job we do and the one with the longest payoff. Done once, properly, it will not need doing again in your lifetime.
A full rewire replaces every cable, socket, switch, light point and the consumer unit. We plan the socket and light positions with you first (people always want more sockets than they had), chase the walls, run the cables, and plaster the chases flush so your decorator has a flat wall. First fix takes about a week in a three-bedroom house, second fix two or three days after the plastering has dried.
If you are living in the house we go room by room, keeping power to the kitchen and a bedroom at all times. Empty houses are faster. Either way, every room is sheeted and hoovered at the end of each day.
Partial rewires replace a single failed or dangerous circuit, often the lighting in an older house, where the rest of the installation is sound. We will tell you which you need after an inspection, not before.

Questions about rewires
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Cable with rubber or fabric insulation, round-pin sockets, a fuse box with rewirable fuses, sockets that are warm, or lights that flicker when the kettle goes on. An EICR will tell you for certain, and we will say if a partial rewire or a new board would do instead.
How long does a rewire take?
A two-bedroom flat about a week, a three-bedroom house seven to ten working days plus the plaster drying time before second fix. We give you a dated programme before we start.

Fixed prices on EICRs, boards and chargers, a quote first on everything else, and a slot this week. Loss of power or a burning smell: ring, any hour.
