The team

Two nutritionists and a table.

Bethan does gut, menopause and workplace talks. Kofi does sport and clubs. Both are registered nutritionists, and neither of us is a dietitian. We tell you when you need one.

The people

Bethan Rees, nutritionist, in a linen shirt and beetroot cardigan by a tall window

Bethan Rees

Founder, registered nutritionist

Bethan took a nutrition degree at Cardiff Met and a master's in public health nutrition, then worked for eight years on hospital and school food projects in south Wales. She started Root and Plate in one room of the Old School in 2016.

She sees most of the gut and menopause clients and does most of the workplace talks. She grows a lot of beetroot and is not a dietitian, and will tell you when you need one.

Kofi Mensah, sports nutritionist, in a dark green overshirt by an old brick wall

Kofi Mensah

Sports nutritionist

Kofi trained in sport and exercise nutrition at Cardiff Met, then spent six years with Welsh age-group athletes before joining in 2021. He ran the Cardiff half in a time he does not discuss.

He does the sports clients and club talks, and looks at every training diary with the same question: are you eating enough?

Bring a week of real food.

Seventy-five minutes at the old school table for £85, with three things to change at the end of it. The biscuits stay in the diary. Nobody will be shocked.
