Thirty minutes at home: out, play, feed, out again

Puppy visits

For a puppy not yet old enough or vaccinated enough for the park: a thirty-minute visit at home in the middle of the day, into the garden, a feed, a play, a little lead work and back in the crate or pen. £14, and it turns into a group walk when the vet says so.

A puppy left for four hours at twelve weeks learns to howl and to wee indoors. A visit in the middle of the day breaks that: out to the garden, a feed if it is due, ten minutes of play and ten of quiet, a few steps on the lead up the street, and back to bed.

We follow your routine, not ours: the food you leave out, the toilet word you use, the crate or the pen as you have set it up. The note after each visit says whether they went, what they ate and what they chewed. If you are doing a training programme, tell us the cues and we will use them.

From the week after the second vaccination the visit becomes a short walk on the lead around Pontcanna with one steady older dog for company, and by six months most puppies are on a full group walk. The puppy price lasts until then.

Questions about puppy visits

When can my puppy join a group walk?

A week after the second vaccination, on the lead, with one calm older dog. Off-lead in the fields once the recall is there, usually by five or six months.

Can you do two visits a day?

Yes, mid-morning and mid-afternoon, £26 for the pair. Most puppies need two until about sixteen weeks.
