£45 a month: bookkeeping software, the tax return, MTD quarters, the phone
Sole traders and landlords
For the self-employed, the one-van trade, the freelancer and the landlord with one to four properties: the software, the quarterly Making Tax Digital submissions, the self assessment return, a tax estimate twice a year and a person to ring, for £45 a month plus VAT.

Most sole traders do not need an accountant for the tax return; they need one for the thing before the tax return, which is keeping the records in a shape that makes the return five minutes. From April 2026 that record-keeping is also the law, quarterly, for anyone earning over £50,000, and the year after for £30,000. The package exists to make that painless.
You get the bookkeeping software (we use FreeAgent or Xero, your choice, paid for in the package), the bank feed connected, and a half-hour set-up where we show you the one weekly habit: photograph the receipt, confirm the bank line. Invoices come out of the same app. Each quarter we check the figures and submit the Making Tax Digital update; in January we file the self assessment return from records that already balance, and in July and January we ring to say what the payment on account will be.
Landlords get the same with the property pages, the mortgage interest relief worked out, and a word about whether a limited company would save tax (for most with under four properties it would not, and we will say so). CIS subcontractors have their deductions tracked so the refund is claimed in April, not December. If you cross the VAT threshold we tell you two months before it happens.

What it costs
£45 a month plus VAT, everything in. A one-off self assessment return without a package is £195 plus VAT. Package prices are a month, plus VAT at 20%, month to month after the first year. The prices page has the three packages side by side, what is in each, and every extra.
Questions about sole traders
I earn under £30,000. Do I need MTD?
Not yet: the threshold is £50,000 from April 2026, £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. The package still makes sense if you want the year-end to be painless, but we will say if it does not.
Can I just bring a bag of receipts in January?
You can, and we will do the return for £195, but you will pay more tax than you need to because half the receipts will be missing. Photographing them as you go is less work than the bag, which is the whole point of the package.
Pick a package, or ask which one fits.
Sole trader or landlord £45 a month, limited company £125, VAT-registered £195, all plus VAT, everything in. Tell us what the business is and where you are with it and one of the three of us rings back the same working day with a straight answer, including which package you do not need.
