Render cleaning

Green and black staining on render and painted walls soft-washed off with a biocide at low pressure.

A technician spraying a low-pressure biocide onto a white rendered wall streaked with green algae on a house

From £180 a front elevation

Most green on a rendered wall is algae, and most black is lichen or soot. Neither should be pressure-washed: modern silicone renders are only a few millimetres thick, and a jet takes the surface off with the dirt.

We soft-wash: a biocide sprayed on at about the pressure of a garden hose, left to work, then rinsed gently. The green goes in a day; the black fades over the following weeks as the biocide keeps working in the rain.

We need a dry forecast for a day afterwards, which is why render work runs from April to September. We will move your date rather than wash in the rain.

Cracked render and blown patches are photographed and reported. Repairs and painting are for a plasterer or a decorator.

Questions about render

Why has the black not gone on the day?

Lichen dies on the day but takes weeks to wash away. The free check after a month is for exactly that.

Is the biocide safe for my plants?

We wet the plants first and rinse after, and cover anything delicate. Fish ponds get covered completely.

Can you clean painted pebbledash?

Yes, the same way. Loose pebbles stay loose; we tell you if we see any.

Gutters any time; drives, render and roofs when the weather lets the job work. Photographs of every gutter run come by text the same day.
