Three fee earners, one receptionist, and no case-handler rota. Rhian and Lowri run the conveyancing, Gareth the wills, LPAs and probate, and each client has the direct line and email of the one doing their file.
Director and solicitor. Residential conveyancing, remortgages, the firm
Qualified in 2004 at a large Cardiff firm, ran its residential property team, and opened Harbour Legal on Holton Road in 2011 to do conveyancing the way she wanted: fixed fees on the website, one person per file, and a Friday update. She still runs a full caseload, sits on the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme panel for Wales, and is the firm's compliance officer.
Consultant solicitor. Wills, lasting powers of attorney, probate, home visits
Thirty years in private client work, the last twelve with Harbour. Gareth writes most of the wills and LPAs and runs the probate files, and does the home visits across the Vale, which he prefers because people say more at their own kitchen table. He is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and an accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Licensed conveyancer. Purchases, sales, new builds, Help to Buy Wales
Joined as a trainee in 2016 and qualified as a licensed conveyancer with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers in 2019. Lowri runs her own caseload of purchases and sales, knows every new-build developer's solicitor in the Vale by name, and handles the Help to Buy Wales and shared-ownership files, which have their own paperwork and their own deadlines.
Regulation and accreditation
Harbour Legal Ltd is authorised and regulated by the SRA. Client money is held separately and inspected; we carry professional indemnity insurance; the Legal Ombudsman and the compensation fund stand behind us. The SRA digital badge sits in the footer of the live site.
Accredited since 2014 and reassessed every year: a documented process for every purchase and sale, anti-fraud checks, and the thing lenders care about, which is why every high-street lender lets us act on their mortgage.
Gareth is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and an accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly: the two bodies that set the standard for wills, LPAs, probate and advising older clients.
Lowri is a licensed conveyancer regulated by the CLC, a specialist conveyancing qualification. Her work is supervised by Rhian as a solicitor and covered by the firm's SRA regulation and insurance.
Bethan, on reception
Bethan has run the front desk since 2017. She answers every call in the day, knows which stage each file is at because she updates the board every morning, and will tell you straight if Rhian is in a meeting and when she will ring back, which is the same day. She also does the ID checks, chases the searches and the Land Registry, and keeps the fire safe where the wills live. Messages left after 5:30 are on the right desk by 9.
