Wills
A will written by a solicitor, at a fixed fee, in an hour's meeting at our office or your home anywhere in the Vale: who gets what, who looks after the children, who sorts it out, and the things people forget (step-children, the house, a business, the dog). Stored here free.

Half the adults in Wales have no will, and the ones who do often have one written before the children, the second marriage or the house. The meeting takes an hour, the will is ready in two weeks, and the checklist on the guides page tells you what to think about before you come.
Gareth or Rhian meets you at the office or at home, goes through the checklist with you (executors, guardians, gifts, the residue, what happens if someone dies before you, funeral wishes if you want them in), and explains the things that catch people out: a marriage revokes an earlier will, a step-child inherits nothing without being named, a jointly owned house may pass outside the will altogether. A draft comes to you by post or email within a week; you read it, ask questions, and sign in front of two witnesses here or at home.
The original is stored in our fire safe at no charge, with a copy for you and a note of where it is for your executors. Changes later are a new will or a codicil at £95 plus VAT, and we suggest a read-through every five years or after any marriage, divorce, birth or house move. If an estate is likely to pay inheritance tax, or there is a disabled beneficiary, a business or a farm, we say so at the meeting and quote for the trust will that deals with it rather than selling you one you do not need.

Questions about wills
Can I just use an online will?
For a simple estate and a simple family, possibly. The problems we see are in the exceptions: step-children, a house owned jointly, a gift to someone who dies first, a witness who is also a beneficiary. The meeting is where those come out. At £195 the difference is small.
Do you charge to be executors?
We do not need to be. Most people appoint family. If you have no one suitable, a solicitor executor is charged at the probate rates on the prices page, and we say so in the will itself so nobody is surprised.
Work out the fee, then get it in writing.
The calculator on the prices page gives the fixed fee for buying, selling or both, with the disbursements and the Land Transaction Tax. Send the quote form and the same figure comes back in writing within the working day, with the name and direct line of the person who will do the work.
