For building work, rubble and bigger clear-outs

Builders' skips, 6 and 8 yards

The skip you see outside every extension: six or eight yards, for rubble, blocks, timber and the waste from building work. On the drive, or on the road with lights, cones and a council permit we apply for. From £265.

Builders' skips are the workhorses: a 6-yard holds about sixty bin bags, an 8-yard about eighty, and both are built to take rubble. That makes them the skip for knocking through a wall, a small extension, a new patio, or a big clear-out that is mostly heavy.

An 8-yard skip full of rubble is about eight tonnes, the most the lorry can lift, so heavy waste in an 8-yard must stop at the top edge and soil in an 8-yard should stop at half. If you have more heavy waste than that, two 6-yard skips or a wait-and-load is cheaper than an overweight charge.

On the road, a skip needs a permit from the council, lights at night and cones. We apply for the permit, the lights and cones are free, and the delivery checker gives the fee and the first day we can put it there.

What is included

  • Fourteen days on site
  • Lights and cones for a road skip, free
  • The council permit applied for
  • Boards under the feet
  • Tipping, sorting and recycling
  • A waste transfer note

What it costs

A 6-yard builders' skip £265 and an 8-yard £295, for fourteen days with delivery, collection, tipping and VAT. A road permit is extra, by council. Including VAT. The size picker works out the skip for your job, and the delivery checker says whether you need a permit and when we can come.

Questions about builders' skips

How long does a permit take?

Two to five working days, depending on the council: Merthyr is quickest, Neath Port Talbot slowest. The delivery checker counts it for you.

Can I keep it longer than fourteen days?

Yes, at £25 a week, and the permit is extended for you.

Order by two. On your drive tomorrow.

Pick the size, tell us where it goes, and Glyn or one of the drivers drops it with boards under it. Fourteen days, collection, tipping and VAT in the price, and the permit sorted if it goes on the road.
