Done gently, from £45, with the funeral directors we know

Sympathy and funeral flowers

Flowers for a funeral or for someone grieving, done gently and without fuss: a loose spray or a posy for the coffin, a wreath, a sheaf for a cremation, something soft in a bowl for the house. We work with the funeral directors across the Vale and deliver to the chapel or the home on the morning, and we will take the order by phone if you would rather not write it down.

A gentle sympathy arrangement of white lilies, roses and soft greenery in a low ceramic bowl on a wooden table by a window

This is the order nobody wants to make, and we try to make it the easiest: a phone call, a few questions about the person and the colours they loved, a price said plainly, and the flowers at the funeral director's by nine on the morning. If you are not sure what any of the words mean, say so; most people are not.

A coffin spray sits on top of the coffin and is what most families choose, from £150 for a loose garden-style spray in the person's colours to £280 for something fuller; a sheaf is a long hand-tied bunch laid on the coffin, from £65, and suits a cremation; a wreath, from £95, is the traditional ring. Family pieces (a posy from a grandchild, a heart, a name in flowers) are priced when we talk. For the house, a bowl of soft flowers from £45 that will last the week and does not need arranging.

We deliver to every funeral director in the Vale and to the chapels at Cardiff and Barry crematoria, by nine on the morning, with a card in your words. If the family has asked for donations instead of flowers we will tell you, gently, and suggest something small for the house. For a funeral out of the area we can arrange flowers with a florist near the venue through the network we belong to, and we will say if we think you would do better ringing them direct.

Questions about sympathy

What do I need to tell you?

The person's name, the funeral director, the date and time, roughly what you would like to spend, and anything about the person: a colour, a flower, a garden they loved. We work from that.

Can we see it first?

Yes. We send a photograph the evening before to the number you give us, and if anything is wrong we change it before it leaves.

Order by 1pm and it is there this afternoon.

A hand-tied from the best of the morning, a bowl for someone grieving, a bunch every fortnight, or an hour in the shop to talk about a wedding: ring, send the form, or come in. Same-day delivery across the Vale by electric van, £5 local, £8 across the Vale, free over £60.
