Cameras that see faces and number plates, not just shapes

CCTV

Four-megapixel cameras placed to catch a face at the door and a plate on the drive, a recorder that keeps thirty days, and an app on your phone. Pointed at your property, not your neighbour's.

Most home CCTV footage is useless: a dark grey shape at the end of the drive at 3am. Ours is placed to answer the questions the police will ask, who it was and what they drove, and set up so it works at night.

At the survey we stand where the cameras will go and decide what each one is for: a face at head height by the front door, the whole drive and a number plate at the gate, the side passage, the back door. Then we choose the lens for the distance. A wide camera sees everything and identifies nobody; a narrow one at the door identifies everyone who knocks. Most houses need two or three, placed well, rather than six placed anywhere.

Cameras record to a recorder in a cupboard, not just to someone else's cloud, so footage is kept for about thirty days and nobody charges you a monthly fee to see it. The app shows live and recorded views and can alert you to a person, not a cat or a swaying branch. We angle every camera to keep to your own property, mask anything that overlooks a neighbour or the street, and give you the short guidance on what the law expects of home CCTV.

What it includes

  • Survey and camera plan
  • 4MP turret cameras with night vision
  • Recorder with 30 days of storage
  • Person and vehicle alerts in the app
  • Privacy masking for neighbours
  • A walk-through of finding and saving footage

What it costs

From £630 fitted for two cameras with a recorder and the app; each further camera £185. The kit builder prices an alarm and cameras for your own doors and windows, and the monitoring page explains the monthly options.

Questions about cCTV cameras

Can I point a camera at the street?

Your own property is fine. Once a camera captures the street or a neighbour's garden, data protection law applies to you and you must have a good reason and tell people. We angle and mask cameras to avoid that, and explain what to do if you cannot.

Is there a monthly fee?

Not for CCTV on its own. Footage is on your recorder and the app is free. Monitored CCTV, where a control room watches alerts, is available on commercial sites and priced separately.

Will it work in the dark?

Yes. Every camera has infrared night vision, and where there is a porch light or street lighting we can use colour night mode. We test each camera after dark before the job is signed off on longer installs.
