Wireless and wired intruder alarms for houses, flats and shops
Burglar alarms
A wireless alarm fitted in a day without lifting a floorboard: control panel, keypad, external siren, motion sensors and door and window contacts, set from the keypad, a fob or your phone.

An alarm does two things: it makes a burglar choose another house, and it tells someone quickly if they do not. A well-placed, well-set alarm does both. A badly placed one does neither and drives you mad with false alarms.
We start at the free survey by walking the routes in: front and back doors, the patio doors, ground-floor windows at the back and side, and anything a flat roof or a wheelie bin makes reachable. Contacts go on those, motion sensors go where someone would have to walk once inside, and the siren goes where it can be seen from the street. For most three-bedroom houses in Barry and Penarth that is a panel, a keypad by the front door, two motion sensors, two door contacts and two or three window contacts.
We fit wireless systems as standard: no chasing walls, no floorboards up, a day or less on site, and batteries that last two to three years and tell the panel before they go flat. Where a house is being rewired or renovated we fit wired systems too. Every system is graded to the British and European standard (Grade 2 for homes, Grade 3 for most commercial premises), which matters if you ever want police response or your insurer asks.

Questions about burglar alarms
Will the dog set it off?
Not with pet-tolerant sensors set up properly. We ask about the dog (or cat) at the survey and angle and set the sensors for its weight. Dogs that climb onto the back of the sofa need a different plan, and we will say so.
Wired or wireless?
Wireless for almost every existing home: a day to fit, no mess, and modern wireless is as reliable as wired. Wired makes sense in a property being rewired or a commercial unit with long runs. Both are priced on the quote.
Does my insurer need to know?
Tell them. Some insurers offer a discount for a graded, maintained alarm; a few require police response for high-value contents. We give you a certificate of installation for the file.
