The team

Mark, Jodie and two vans.

Four of us: two surveying and fitting, two more fitters, and the showroom open six days a week on the Avondale estate.

The people

Mark Pritchard, a garage door fitter in his fifties with short grey hair and glasses, in a charcoal jacket over a red polo shirt in the showroom

Owner and fitter

Mark Pritchard

Mark fitted doors for a Newport manufacturer for twelve years before opening Up & Over on the Avondale estate in 2004. He reckons he has replaced the original door on half the garages in Fairwater and Greenmeadow, and he still fits most days, because, he says, the survey only tells you half of what the opening is going to do.

Surveyor and fitter

Jodie Lewis

Jodie joined in 2015 as a fitter and now does most of the surveys, because she is the one who finds the low lintel, the sloping floor or the soil pipe in the corner before it becomes a problem on fitting day. She sets up every electric door and does the force test herself.

How we work

Four things that always happen.

Measured, not guessed

Headroom, side room, the floor and the lintel all decide which door fits. We measure every one before quoting, because a sectional that will not clear the lintel is no good to anyone.

One price, fitted

The door, the frame, fitting, making good, the motor if you choose one, and taking the old door away. No extras on the day.

Safe doors only

Electric doors are fitted with safety edges or photocells and force-tested, as the standard requires. We will not fit a motor to a door that is not safe to automate.

Looked after afterwards

Ten years on the door panel, five on motors and springs. A yearly service for £69 keeps it that way.

Jodie or Mark measures the opening, the headroom and the side room, shows you samples, and leaves a written quote with fitting and the old door taken away. Or visit the showroom on the Avondale estate and try the doors.
