The classic steel door, in canopy and retractable
Up-and-over doors
Steel up-and-over doors in canopy and retractable gear, in ribbed, panelled and smooth designs, replacing the original door on most garages built from the 1960s on.

Most garages in Cwmbran's estates were built with an up-and-over door, and for a lot of them a new one is still the right answer: the simplest, quickest and least expensive door to fit.
A canopy door swings out and up, with part of it sticking out over the drive when open; it needs little space inside. A retractable door runs back on horizontal tracks so it sits fully inside the garage when open; it needs a clear ceiling but gives a slightly wider opening. We fit both, in galvanised and powder-coated steel, ribbed, panelled or smooth, in standard colours or any colour you like for a little more.
Replacing an old up-and-over is usually a half-day job: the old door and frame out, the new one in, the gaps made good. If the opening is not standard, we make the frame fit. An up-and-over can be motorised with a ceiling-mounted operator; we check the door is balanced and safe first.

Questions about up-and-over doors
Canopy or retractable?
Canopy if the ceiling inside is used for storage or the garage is short; retractable if you want the full opening and the door completely inside.
Can I motorise my existing up-and-over?
Often, if the door is in good condition and balanced. We check the springs and the gear first; motorising a worn door just wears out the motor.
How long does it take?
About half a day for a standard single replacement.
