Floors

Five floors, one measure.

Carpet for the rooms you sit in, LVT and vinyl where it gets wet, laminate and oak where you want wood. Every one measured at the house first and fitted by our own four fitters.

All six

01

Carpets

Two hundred carpets in the shop, from a £12 polypropylene for a rental to an 80/20 wool twist that lasts twenty years, fitted on a 10 mm underlay with new gripper and door bars. Stairs, landings and the awkward bits included.

From £37 a square metre fitted for a good mid-range twist with underlay and gripper; budget carpets from £25 fitted.

02

Luxury vinyl tile

Stone and wood-effect tiles and planks with a commercial wear layer, glued to a floor we level first, or rigid click LVT over an underlay. The floor most of our kitchens, halls and bathrooms get, and the one dogs cannot hurt.

From £56 a square metre fitted for a glued commercial-grade LVT, including levelling.

03

Laminate

Eight and twelve millimetre laminate at AC4, the wear grade that copes with a family, a dog and kitchen chairs, on an underlay with a damp-proof layer. Water-resistant boards for kitchens, and an acoustic underlay upstairs.

From £33 a square metre fitted for an 8 mm AC4 board with underlay; 12 mm water-resistant boards from £41.

04

Real and engineered wood

Engineered oak with a 3 or 4 mm top layer that can be sanded twice, solid oak where the floor allows it, and herringbone for Victorian halls. Brushed, lacquered or oiled, floated on an underlay or glued down, with the doors and thresholds finished properly.

From £75 a square metre fitted for 14 mm engineered oak with underlay.

05

Sheet vinyl

Cushioned vinyl in one sheet off a 4 or 5 metre roll, so there is no seam for water to find: the safest floor for a bathroom, the cheapest good floor for a utility room, and the one landlords ask for. Fitted in an hour or two.

From £26 a square metre fitted.

06

The free home measure

Rhian or Lewis comes to the house with a laser, a moisture meter and a bag of samples, measures every room, checks the subfloor and the doors, and leaves a written quote that lists every piece we would cut. Free, and usually within three working days.

The home measure is free.

From the measure to the door bars

Measured this week, fitted in one to three.

The home measure, usually within three working days, and a written quote on the day. Stock carpets and vinyl are fitted within the week; ordered carpets, LVT and oak arrive in one to three. On the day the fitters take up the old floor, check and prepare the subfloor, fit the new one, trim any door that needs it and put the furniture back. The old floor goes in the van, and most of it to a carpet recycler in Port Talbot.

Start with the home measure. It is free.

Rhian or Lewis measures every room with a laser, checks the floor underneath and every door, leaves the samples with you, and writes the quote before they leave. Usually within three working days.
