Eight weeks alongside a programme, £240: enough protein, a kitchen you can manage, and no plan you would not eat

Nutrition coaching

Not a diet. Eight weeks of fortnightly half-hour conversations with Ioan alongside your programme, about the one or two things that would make the training work better: usually protein, sometimes breakfast, occasionally the wine. Written down, adjusted, and dropped the moment it is not realistic for your kitchen and your week.

Most people getting strong after fifty are not eating enough protein, are skipping breakfast, and have been on and off diets for thirty years. Nutrition coaching here is deliberately small: four conversations over eight weeks about the one or two changes that would most help the training, written down in a way that fits the kitchen you actually have, and reviewed with the lifting numbers.

The first conversation is a week of what you actually ate, without judgement, and what the training needs: usually more protein spread across the day, sometimes more food on training days, occasionally less of one thing. We agree one change, write it down, and leave it alone for a fortnight. The second, third and fourth conversations adjust it. Messages in between for the "is this all right?" questions.

We do not do calorie targets, meal plans, supplements beyond a tub of protein if you want one, or anything you would not still be doing in a year. Ioan holds a nutrition qualification and will send you to a dietitian for anything medical; a client with diabetes or an eating history gets a straight conversation about whether this is the right place.

What is included

  • Four half-hour conversations over eight weeks
  • One or two changes, written down, for your kitchen
  • Messages between for the small questions
  • Reviewed alongside the lifting numbers
  • No calorie targets, no meal plans, no supplements pushed
  • A straight referral if it is medical

What it costs

£240 for eight weeks (four half-hour sessions and messages between), alongside any programme. Not offered on its own, because the training is the point. The programmes page has every price side by side; the assessment page says what the first ninety minutes involve.

Questions about nutrition

Will I lose weight?

Possibly, slowly, if that is what you want and we say so; the aim is to be stronger, and people who get stronger often change shape without the scales moving much. We will measure what you ask us to.

I am vegetarian. Is protein a problem?

It takes a little more planning and we have done it many times. Eggs, dairy, beans, lentils, tofu and a scoop of pea protein cover it.

Start with the assessment. Ninety minutes, and an honest answer.

Your story, the letters, how you move under a light bar, four baseline measures in a book you keep, and ten minutes on what it will take and whether we are the right people. £60, credited against a programme, and refunded if we say we are not.
