Through the arch, the green door.

The mews is behind Glebe Street, through the arch beside the bakery; the studio is the green door at the end of the cobbles. Press the bell, because the door is locked during sessions: the room is somebody's for the hour, and soon it will be yours.

The exterior of a small private training studio in a converted mews on a quiet Penarth side street: a dark green door, a large window showing a squat rack and plants, a bicycle

Getting here, and the house rules

The mews

The Mews, 4a Glebe Street, Penarth CF64 1EB: through the arch beside the bakery, the green door at the end of the cobbled lane. Press the bell; the door is locked during sessions because the room is someone's for the hour.

Getting here

Penarth station is a six-minute walk; buses 92, 93 and 94 stop on Windsor Road, three minutes away. Two parking spaces on the lane by the door, free, booked with the session; otherwise the Glebe Street car park, two hours free.

Access

The lane is cobbled with a flat strip; the door is step-free with a wide opening; the shower and changing area are on the same level. Clients with walking aids train here every week.

Hours

Sessions from 6:30am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday, booked a week ahead; semi-private on its fixed slots; assessments Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Saturday at 11. The phone is answered between sessions.

What to bring

Flat shoes (trainers with a thick heel are the one thing we will ask you to change), clothes you can move in, water if you want your own. We have chalk, towels, a shower and coffee.

Who it is not for

People who want a gym floor, a class, music, or someone to shout. People under eighteen. Anyone in acute treatment for an injury, until the physio or surgeon says the loading can start. We say so at the assessment and we refund it.

Standing in the lane and cannot see a green door? Ring 029 2018 0470; one of us will come out.

Start with the assessment. Ninety minutes, and an honest answer.

Your story, the letters, how you move under a light bar, four baseline measures in a book you keep, and ten minutes on what it will take and whether we are the right people. £60, credited against a programme, and refunded if we say we are not.
