Two people, one showroom on Plassey Street, and a workroom in Bridgend that makes our roman blinds and curtains. Nobody else comes to your house.
Owner, measures every window
Hannah worked in the curtain workroom of a Cardiff department store for twelve years before opening Slat & Shade on Plassey Street in 2011. She does every home visit herself, carries the fabric books in the boot of her car, and has measured more Penarth bay windows than she can count. She will tell you when a cheaper blind would do the job.
Fitter
Owain is a joiner by trade and has fitted for Slat & Shade since 2016. He hangs every shutter, bends every bay track, and is the reason the brackets are always level. He puts dust sheets down before he takes a drill out, and takes the old blinds away when he leaves.
How we work
We never make from your measurements. A recess that is 3mm out of square changes how a shutter hangs, and we would rather find that than you.
We ask which way the window faces and what the room is for, then suggest the fabric or slat that gives that light, not the most expensive one.
The quote includes the blind, the brackets, the fitting and taking the old ones away. Nothing is added on the day.
Mechanisms, motors and shutter hinges are guaranteed for five years. If something sticks, Owain comes back.
