Real basswood slats, tilted to the light you want
Wooden venetian blinds
Basswood and faux-wood venetians in 35mm, 50mm and 63mm slats, with cotton tapes if you like them. Tilt them for privacy and light at the same time.

Venetians do something no fabric blind can: tilt the slats and you keep the view of the sky and lose the view in from the street. That is why they are on half the bay windows on Victoria Road.
We make wooden venetians in real basswood, which is light enough for wide windows and takes stain and paint evenly, in twenty colours from bright white to walnut, and in faux-wood for bathrooms and kitchens where steam would warp timber. Slat width matters more than people expect: 50mm suits most windows, 35mm suits small windows and narrow recesses, and 63mm makes a big window feel calmer. We bring all three to the home visit.
Cotton or linen tapes hide the cord holes and soften the look, and cost £18 a blind extra. Wide windows are split into two blinds on one headrail so they are not too heavy to lift. Wooden venetians cannot be motorised well at a sensible price, and we will say so rather than sell you a motor that struggles.

Questions about wooden venetians
Will they warp in a bathroom?
Real wood can; faux-wood will not. For bathrooms and over sinks we fit faux-wood, which looks the same from across the room and wipes clean.
How do I clean them?
A feather duster or a soft cloth across closed slats every couple of weeks. Do not soak real wood; a barely damp cloth is fine.
Can they be motorised?
Not well at a sensible price. If you want to raise and lower a blind from a switch, a motorised roller or roman is the better choice.
