Projects

Eight kitchens, before and after.

Every one fitted by our own team, photographed on the day we started and the day we finished, with what it cost and how long the fit took. The owners have said you can ask them about it; Carys has the numbers.

A bright kitchen-diner in a Victorian terrace with charcoal cabinets, a white quartz island with stools and bifold doors to a small garden

The eight projects

The same 1930s semi kitchen before: beige wooden doors, worn laminate and fruit-pattern tiles
Before
The finished forest green shaker kitchen with brass handles, a quartz worktop and an island
After

Forest green shaker

Heol Llanishen Fach, Rhiwbina

A 1990s kitchen in a 1930s semi, with the back wall taken out to the old pantry. The island sits where the pantry wall was; the forest green is Little Greene's, matched at the works.

£23,4002-week fit

The same extension before: bare plaster, first-fix pipes and a concrete floor
Before
The finished charcoal handleless kitchen with a walnut breakfast bar and brass pendants in an extension
After

Large · handleless · quartz

Charcoal handleless in an extension

Ty Wern Road, Llanishen

A new single-storey extension, handed over by the builder as a shell. We drew the kitchen with the architect before the slab was poured, so every pipe and cable came up where the units wanted them.

£38,9003-week fit

The same galley before: dark units, a fridge in the way and a broken drawer
Before
The finished narrow galley kitchen with linen cabinets, oak shelves and a sash window
After

Small · painted · laminate

A galley that works

Llanbleddian Gardens, Cathays

A two-metre-wide galley in a terrace, with the fridge moved under the stairs and open oak shelves where wall units would have closed the room in. Laminate in a terrazzo print kept the budget for the doors.

£9,8002-week fit

The same back room before: a small separate kitchen and a dining room with a wall between

Kitchen-diner in a terrace

Allensbank Road, Heath

The wall between the back kitchen and the dining room came out under a steel the structural engineer specified; we coordinated the builder and fitted the kitchen the week after the skim was dry.

£24,7002-week fit

The same kitchen before: a 2005 white gloss kitchen with a freestanding cooker
Before
The finished bank of tall linen cabinets with two built-in ovens and an integrated fridge
After

Ovens at eye height

Velindre Road, Whitchurch

A 2005 gloss kitchen replaced in a fortnight, with a bank of tall units for two ovens at eye height for a couple who cook every night. The induction hob went where the old cooker was, on a new 32-amp circuit.

£17,2002-week fit

The same cottage kitchen before: dated orange pine units and a cracked tiled worktop
Before
The finished solid oak cottage kitchen with a cream range cooker in the chimney breast
After

Oak in a stone cottage

Heol y Pentre, Pentyrch

Not one wall in the cottage is straight, so every unit was scribed to the stone. The range sits in the old chimney breast with a new flue liner fitted by our plumber.

£16,3003-week fit

The same room before: a cluttered garage corner with a washing machine on bare concrete
Before
The finished utility and boot room with tall linen cabinets, a butler sink and an oak bench
After

Small · painted · oak

A utility and boot room

Mill Road, Lisvane

Half of a double garage turned into a utility and boot room for a family with two dogs: a butler sink for muddy paws, tall units for the washer and dryer stacked, and an oak bench under the coat hooks.

£8,9002-week fit

The old worktop before: chipped and swollen laminate round the sink
Before
The new white veined quartz worktop with an undermount sink and brass tap on existing green cabinets
After

Worktop replacement · quartz

Worktops only

Caerphilly Road, Birchgrove

A kitchen we fitted in 2014 with laminate, which had swollen at the sink after ten years. New quartz templated on a Monday and fitted the following Tuesday, the sink undermounted, the cabinets untouched.

Carys comes to your house, measures every wall with a laser, shows you the doors and worktops in your own light, and sends scaled drawings with a fixed quote within a week. The estimator gives you the band before she arrives.
