A treated booth with an engineer, £55 an hour; remote direction for agencies anywhere
Voice-over and ADR
A dead, quiet booth with a broadcast microphone, a talkback to the control room and a screen for picture, for adverts, audiobooks, e-learning, games and dialogue replacement for film. £55 an hour with an engineer; remote direction so the agency in London can listen and direct live; files delivered to spec the same day.

A voice-over booth has one job: to sound like nothing at all. Ours is a small room inside the building with no parallel walls, double doors, its own ventilation that can be turned off, and a broadcast microphone that has recorded everything from a thirty-second supermarket radio advert to a fourteen-hour audiobook. A window and a talkback connect it to the control room; a screen shows picture for anything that has to be in sync.
Most voice-over sessions are an hour or less: the talent in the booth, the engineer at the desk, and the client listening live, either in the control room or remotely on a link that lets them talk to the booth. We record to the agency's spec, edit out the breaths and the retakes, and deliver the files the same day, often within the hour for radio.
ADR (dialogue replacement for film and television) uses the screen in the booth: the actor watches the scene, hears three beeps and speaks the line in sync, as many times as it takes, with the engineer matching the microphone and the room to the original. Independent films from Cardiff and Bristol use us for the lines the location could not save.
Audiobooks are booked in blocks of four hours, which is about as long as a voice stays consistent, and priced by the finished hour once we have heard a chapter. We work in Welsh and English, and several of the regular voices are bilingual.

Questions about voice-over and ADR
Can the client direct from London?
Yes, on a link that lets them hear the booth in real time and talk to the voice between takes. It is how most of our advert sessions run.
Do you provide voices?
We can recommend a dozen local voices in Welsh and English and book them for you; their fee is separate from the booth.
Pick the room and the hours. The price works itself out.
The live room is £45 an hour, never more than £150 for a half day or £300 for a day; an engineer £20 an hour on top, capped the same way. The book page does the sum and shows what is free today and tomorrow. Half the quote holds the date.
