Your hosts

Ffion, Dafydd
and Mabli.

The two of us run the Old Post Office, with Mabli the spaniel supervising. We live in the flat at the back, so someone is always here.

The Old Post Office on Broad Street, Llandovery: a cream Georgian front with a red shopfront and a red wall post box

The two of us

Ffion Pryce, a woman in her forties with auburn hair tied back, in a bottle-green apron over a cream shirt in a kitchen with copper pans

The rooms, the bookings and the breakfast

Ffion grew up on a farm above Myddfai, cooked in restaurants in Cardiff and Bristol for fifteen years, and came home to open the Old Post Office in 2016. She takes the bookings, does the rooms and cooks every breakfast, and she buys the eggs from her cousin and the bacon from the butcher she has known since school.

The drying room, the bikes and the routes

Dafydd was a mountain rescue volunteer on the Black Mountain for twenty years and still rides most mornings. He looks after the drying room, the bike store and the building, writes the route folder, gives lifts to start points, and will talk about the weather on the hill for as long as you let him.

How we keep house

Four promises.

A room that is ready

Cleaned and checked by Ffion herself, heating on before you arrive, a tray with Welsh cakes, and the window open if you would rather.

Breakfast when you need it

From half past seven on weekdays, eight at the weekend, and an early tray at six for a long day on the hill if you ask the night before.

Fair if plans change

Cancel up to seven days before for nothing. Inside seven days we charge the first night only if we cannot re-let the room.

Local knowledge, free

Where to walk in the weather you have, where to eat tonight, which lane is closed: Dafydd has walked and ridden all of it.

Pick a night, see which rooms are free.

The rooms page shows every room's rate and whether it is free on the night you choose, with the two-night weekend rule worked out. Then book with the form or ring Ffion on 01550 496 0920; nothing is charged until you leave.
