In the Sorting Office, with its own courtyard door, £10 a night

Dogs welcome

One of our four rooms takes a dog: the Sorting Office on the ground floor, with its own glazed door to the courtyard so a dog can go out first thing without the stairs. A bed, bowls and towels, and walks from the door along the Towy.

We have a spaniel of our own, Mabli, and we know a holiday is not a holiday if the dog is in kennels. But we have one dog room, not four, because some guests come to us precisely because they are allergic.

The Sorting Office is on the ground floor with a slate floor, a dog bed, bowls, towels and its own glazed door to the courtyard. Dogs are welcome in the room and the courtyard, and at breakfast at the table by the window in the hall if they will lie down; not in the breakfast room itself, and not left alone in the room for more than an hour.

For walks, the riverside path along the Towy starts two minutes away and the castle mound is a short loop for first thing. The folder lists two pubs in town that take dogs and the vet on the Brecon road.

Questions about dogs welcome

Why only one dog room?

Because a fair number of our guests choose us for having a dog-free house, and a building this old holds on to dog hair. One room, cleaned separately, is the balance.

Can our dog stay in the room while we eat out?

For an hour or so if it is settled, in its bed. Longer than that, the two pubs in the folder will have you both.

The rooms page shows every room's rate and whether it is free on the night you choose, with the two-night weekend rule worked out. Then book with the form or ring Ffion on 01550 496 0920; nothing is charged until you leave.
